Supermarkets Are Profiteering Extortionists

June 28, 2013

Sainsburys and other supermarkets are absolute rip-off merchants, using their semi-monopoly of the UK food market to extort huge amounts of profit from helpless consumers by hugely overcharging on many items such as potatoes.

Potato Weekly magazine,  published by the Potato Council, lists the average UK price paid to farmers for potatoes for the week to 21 June 2013 as £286.38 per metric ton  – which 1000 kilos. That is 28.63 pence per kilo – for this 2013 season’s NEW potatoes.

But Sainsburys are charging £3 per kilo and I even saw a price of £4 a kilo somewhere once. So, at £3 a kilo Sainsburys are selling potatoes at about ten times what they pay for them if they did buy them at average prices.

But actually, they will almost certainly be buying them at specially negotiated prices which are actually far lower than published average prices.

Last season’s clapped out potatoes, often gently rotting invisibly from the inside with ‘black rot’ caused entirely by too long in storage, are also being sold at incredibly inflated prices, also many times what the supermarkets paid for them.

I buy some types of meat at a lower price than Sainsbury’s grossly overpriced potatoes. To suggest that potatoes are costing more than meat to produce is laughable under any circumstances and proves supermarkets charge what they think they can get away with.

Supermarkets fraudulently present themselves to consumers being as selling  groceries  at the cheapest possible  prices. They are liars.

BEWARE LAZY & INCOMPETENT NHS DOCTORS

March 1, 2013

And a  food industry making us ill with processed and adulterated food as well as contaminating beef products with illegal horsemeat.

Having just looked up what exactly naturopathy is, I cannot necessarily claim to be a disciple, but my immediate thought was that nearly every medical intervention I have experienced at the hands of doctors has been a disaster, many being unwanted & unnecessary & with consequential damage.

My fault has always been to trust the superior knowledge of the doctors and it has only about now that I can pinpoint accurately many instances of them being just plain wacky and not actually applying proper science, but more their own personal and often misguided opinions based on their own prejudices. I no longer trust them at all !

The most serious problem they have caused is quite interesting as it applies to so many people.

Doctors insisted in brainwashing me from the age of about twenty into believing I had firstly a duodenal ulcer, then they morphed that into  a hiatus hernia causing acid reflux which after utterly mismanaging for several decades they said medicine had now advanced so much that an exciting new surgical procedure could solve the aggravations caused by acid reflux. I stupidly believed them & had the op –  a fundoplasty.

A year afterwards a camera peering down my oesophagus showed that, in the words of the surgeon, “there was no sign of the fundoplasty ever having taken place”. But meanwhile, what had been a manageable problem has now become worse in that the hacking around of tissue with a sharp knife  etc has resulted in some scar tissue  and distortion of the end of the oesophagus which now means acid trickles slowly out of my stomach the minute I lie down – even if I haven’t eaten for hours. This causes extreme pain and would burn a hole in my oesophagus & kill me within weeks, or in the longer term kill me with cancer. All this means I now have to rely on taking a magic drug every day which stops my stomach producing acid.

So, should I find myself suddenly marooned on a desert island without access to the drug I will almost certainly die in a short time period. I am condemned forever to rely on the availability of this drug, without which it’s curtains. Thank you very much doctors.

And the mean minded paucity of the “wonderful” NHS insists on only (more…)

FOOD INDUSTRY DECEIVES PUBLIC

February 13, 2013

February 13th 2013

Processed Food Can no Longer be Trusted.

Public Deceived on a Massive Scale by Food Industry says BBC Radio Four Today Presenter Evan Davies this morning as Horsemeat is Discovered in Many Processed Food Products.

What a surprise ! Horsemeat illegally in our food, cunningly and sureptitiously mixed in by criminals to many different types of processed meat products sold by supermarkets all over the country. There are serious worries too, that it may contain dangerous drug residues and diseases harmful to human health.

“We now have an industrialised food processing system” reports the BBC. Nobody checks what goes into all this processed food. Nobody polices it, the BBC continued, except the manufacturers themselves. These are the very people who make more money by adulterating our food with rubbish.

But this is only the smallest tip of a huge iceberg of bad, bad food sold to us all by every supermarket.

“Should we still be eating processed meat” says the BBC. “Is it time to admit that processed food can no longer be trusted”.

Actually it is no surprise to find Horsemeat and other rubbish adulterating our processed food because ever since supermarkets grabbed control of the food industry, forcing traditional, local food suppliers and shops out of business, they have been systematically destroying the quality of our food to satisfy their greed to make increasing profits.

I noticed recently that the horribly standardised, mass produced and basically revolting pate I bought at Sainsbury’s says in very small print which is almost impossible to see, that it contains only about 40 per cent of meat. The rest is basically rubbish, fillers etc. just to bulk it up. I no longer buy it; it is just too revolting.

Because this filler is produced in huge quantities, by the hundreds of tons in filthy, nauseating, disgusting industrialised food factories, it is used in all the different pates in the range. So I have noticed they all taste rather the same, whether they are labelled as duck pate or pork pate or mushroom pate or any other kind of pate etc.

The same is true of many, many other entirely different products sold by supermarkets. They try and make as many products they sell as cheaply as possible to satisfy their pathological greed to make ever more money out of us. To do this they constantly reduce the quality and amount of key ingredients and bulk things out with cheap fillers whenever they can get away with it. They con consumers with cheap marketing tricks and lies to make them believe the inferior products they sell us are OK, are worth buying.

Consequently, many of their products are just plain disgusting and bear absolutely no resemblance to the real, original product.

But they get away with all the time. And now they control nearly all food sales in the entire country, having destroyed the traditional food industry and put local shops out of business. Consumers now find it really difficult to find anywhere to buy quality produce from anywhere any more because the shops that sell it are becoming as rare as hen’s teeth.

The supermarkets have entirely destroyed our traditional food industry and are foisting utter rubbish onto us. People now grow up having no idea what decent, unadulterated properly produced quality food should actually taste like.

It is a scandal. The criminal dishonestly inflicted on us by horsemeat being illegally foisted onto millions of consumers all over the country by the supermarkets is just part of the regular daily rip off we all endure from these rapacious thieves.

What are we going to do about it ?

TESCO TAT – A PRODUCT MADE IN CHINA

October 14, 2010

WHERE ELSE BUT CHINA TO MANUFACTURE YOUR CHEAP AND NASTY PRODUCT ?

IT IS THE BEST PLACE BY FAR TO PRODUCE DANGEROUS, SHODDY PRODUCTS, UNFIT FOR PURPOSE.

TESCO CAN ALWAYS BE RELIED ON TO KNOW WHERE TO FIND THE CHEAPEST RUBBISH.

Yes, this is about a TESCO own brand toaster manufactured in China and foisted on unsuspecting little me in the quaint belief it would actually work adequately.

I mean, what could go wrong with a toaster ? Either it works or it doesn’t. If the electric element heats up it will toast the bread. If it doesn’t heat up it goes back to the TESCO supermarket from whence it came for a full refund.

It is the second TESCO toaster I bought. It took a long time to realise just how badly made they are. The first toaster just stopped working one day and as I had had it a few months, I didn’t think I would get anywhere asking the rapacious Tesco Supermarket for a refund. So, I bought another one. Silly ! I should have known better.

Toast always seemed to get stuck and have to be prised out of the thing. You had to get a fork and poke and prod and lever the toasted bread out. The slot to put the bread in was particularly narrow, being obviously designed to take only the ‘ironed’, flat, mass produced supermarket white sliced rubbish apology for bread that TESCO foists on millions of people.

There was no way this tatty TESCO toaster was going accept crumpets or any bread you might have to cut with a bread knife unless you cut it to carefully measured widths so thin it would inevitably disintegrate before you got it into the toaster.

There was always a possibility of death by electrocution too if you forgot to switch the toaster off at the mains because your fork, or knife, or whatever, would touch the bare exposed electric elements that glowed red hot with death inducing electricity to burn the toast with.

Nearly all toasters used to be designed quite differently with a flap you opened to place your bread in and then close it to push the bread up against the electric element. It was quite impossible for toast to get stuck and so no death inducing poking around the naked electric element with metal cutlery was ever needed.

The reason I suspect this well tried and tested – infinitely more efficient and safer design – is no longer manufactured is because the interfering, goody goody EEC Euro control freaks sitting on their immensely stupid backsides at our expense in Euro fantasy land (that’s Brussels) have decided that particular, safer design of toaster is too unsafe and it would therefore be much safer if the electric elements were less open to view and were hidden away down a deep dark inaccessible slot in which you poked your bread into.

These Euro crazed idiots didn’t think of the law of unintended consequences on their interfering, busy body diktats.

With the original design of toaster no one ever had to poke around live electrical elements with metal instruments to prise out their toast. But with the newer design now forced upon everyone by the Euro Prats, a great deal of poking about with metal cutlery in amongst the exposed electrical elements of millions of toasters goes on, as toast is forever getting stuck.

But, back to the real shoddiness of a lousy TESCO product that is basically a death trap.

Like other toasters, the TESCO toaster has little vertical wires in front of the dangerous live electric elements to keep the bread away from the glowing red hot element because if slightly damp bread was to actually touch the electrical elements they could ‘short out’ and a fuse would blow somewhere, or else your plug would melt and catch fire or something.

This kind of typical accidental short circuiting fault in all sorts of electrical equipment is a very common cause of domestic house fires.

But these little wires in the grimly shoddy TESCO toaster are not the robust, firmly placed and rigidly immovable little wires they should be, securely anchored at both top and bottom so they actually do their job reliably of keeping bread away from the naked electrical elements.

Instead, the wires are thin, not at all robust. They are flimsy and bend easily as you put bread into the toaster. But the crowning glory of sheer breathtaking, nasty, dangerous, shoddiness is that the bottom ends of these wires – right at the bottom of the little bread slot of the toaster – are not actually firmly anchored at all.

Instead, the cheap minded designer of the toaster decided to simply run the wires through a little hole in a metal plate right at the bottom of the toasting slot. This saves the bother of soldering the bottom ends of these wires and means the toaster can be made more cheaply.

But guess what happens ? Why, the bottom ends of the wires easily pull out of their allotted holes as bread is prised reluctantly out of the narrow toasting slot. This is particularly likely to happen almost every time the toaster is used if, like me, you either make your own ‘real’ bread, or just buy it from a proper baker, and then have to cut it with a bread knife.

This non uniformly shaped slice of bread tends to easily catch on these pathetically flimsy protective wires in this cheap and dangerously nasty TESCO product. This is very likely to pull these wires out of the holes where they will randomly twist and bend as the toaster is used and they will snag your bread even more enthusiastlcally, until one day they contrive to touch two or more of the bright red hot exposed electric elements which will promptly short circuit your toaster, or house, or possibly your life.

So, that’s why my first TESCO toaster died so soon after buying it and this latest bit of TESCO Tat that passes itself off as a toaster has now got nearly all these wires waving in the breeze just waiting to cause a short circuit which will eventually kill the toaster, or me, or my family.

Meanwhile using the shoddy little rubbish TESCO toaster is just a nightmare.

Well done the Euro idiots and well done TESCO for producing a dangerous and breathtakingly shoddy product; and well done China for producing yet more sub-standard rubbish which is foisted on the rest of the World.

BBC CONSUMER WATCHDOG CATCHES TESCO OUT BEING DEVIOUS, LYING, ACTING LIKE A CONMAN

September 17, 2010

What a surprise !

Tesco supermarket officially caught out scamming their customers by the much respected BBC consumer Watchdog programme presented by Anne Robinson.

Last night ( September 16th 2010 ) the BBC Watchdog programme broadcast a stinging condemnation of Tesco’s devious and dishonest marketing which cons customers into spending unexpected and large amounts of money they had no idea they would be charged.

The worst of two examples was the Tesco ‘phone contract which Tesco told customers would allow them ‘unlimited’ internet use to be including in the contract price.

It then transpired this was a deliberately misleading, untrue statement designed to lure innocent victims into signing up to the Tesco ‘phone contract without realising they would be conned, possibly out of hundreds of pounds they had no idea they might be charged.

The BBC programme cited one Tesco customer, Rob Alderman, who signed up to the devious ‘phone contract only to find he had been tricked by Tesco’s dishonest practices when he received a bill for several hundred pounds more than the usual monthly contract price of a few pounds.

Tesco said, yes, they did sell the ‘phone contract with ‘unlimited’ internet use within the agreed monthly fee. Tesco clearly said users of the contract could expect to have ‘unlimited’ internet use within the monthly fee. That was the agreement and part of the marketing blurb Tesco used to lure customers into signing up.

However, when the Watchdog programme questioned Tesco about why they had sent a bill for hundreds of pounds for the texts sent by Rob, they said there was actually a limit on the amount of data that the phone user could send. Tesco laughingly called it a ‘fair use policy’.

So, if you exceeded this ‘fair use policy’ limit you would then be charged – without even realising it until you actually got a bill; by which time it was too late to discover that the contract was just another low life phoney con trick.

This just shows that supermarkets are devious and so arrogant they think they can get away with being manipulative and dishonest in as many ways as they can creatively dream up to convince themselves they can push the boundaries of fraud and get away without criminal prosecution.

The Watchdog programme also highlighted teenager Joe Waters who had signed up to a Virgin Mobile ‘phone contract offering ‘unlimited’ texts; except Virgin charged Joe £95 for exceeding a monthly limit set by Virgin that unsuspecting Joe never realised he had, what with the contract saying he could make ‘unlimited’ texts.

TESCO ‘CUSTOMER SERVICES’ ACTUALLY MEANS TESCO CUSTOMER TERRORISM

September 11, 2010

– TO THREATEN AND BULLY THE F******G CUSTOMER IF HE DARES COMPLAIN ABOUT ATROCIOUS TREATMENT. TESCO IS ONE OF THE MOST AVARICIOUS, GREEDY, UNCARING, AND NASTY SUPERMARKETS SPREADING LIKE A DISEASE THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.

– INCREASINGLY CREATING A SEMI MONOPOLY WHERE PEOPLE ARE FORCED TO PURCHASE FOOD FROM TESCO EVEN THOUGH THEY DON’T WANT TO BECAUSE SO MANY TESCO PRODUCTS ARE UTTER RUBBISH AND LOADS OF FRESH FOOD PRODUCTS EITHER TASTE DISGUSTING OR ARE A PARODY OF THE ORIGINAL PRODUCT WHICH EXISTED BEFORE SUPERMARKETS STARTED PEDDLING US FILTH INSTEAD OF REAL FOOD.

Yes, I had a bad, a very bad experience at a Tesco supermarket this evening. I’ll tell you all about it. But it will take a while to write it up, and I may not complete it for a few hours as a few glasses of wine and tiredness (it is already being midnight) will inevitably intervene. So check in sometime later/tomorrow until the post appears.

For sheer, brutal nastiness the TESCO SUPERMARKET has excelled itself tonight. It has demonstrated what a disgusting organisation it is and what a complete sham it’s ‘customer services process is.

They say truth is stranger than fiction, and this is a brilliant example. You just couldn’t make it up. It is surreal.

We live in a dangerous society in these Modern Times we live in.
